What Are Wake County's Most and Least Expensive Zip Codes?

Wake County is a large place with 12 different municipalities. Where are the most affordable homes in Wake County?

The most affordable areas tend to be on the east side of Raleigh, these are the longest commutes from Research Triangle Park, one of the areas largest employment centers. But there are a lot of great surprises here, close to downtown with easy access, especially if you are looking for large lots or a rural setting.

These areas are full of amenities and have great small downtown areas that offer great entertainment and dining options.

The most expensive zip code in Wake County are located near downtown, Government Centers and North Carolina State University. Five Points/Hayes Barton leads the way. Tearing down older homes and building new ones has changed the eastern side 27608 a great deal over the last 7 years, while the western side was developed in 1920's with a stipulation that the homes be expensive, at that time $8,000.00. The area was built for Raleighs Wealthy.

27614 is North Raleigh, custom homes, large lots and no city taxes are the basics here. Gated communities and a fantastic country feel.

27519 in West Cary is made up of good schools and homes built primarily between 2002-2020. With all these new construction homes are new construction amenities, and also the groceries capital of Wake County when I lived there, I could get to three Harris Teeters, two Publix, a Food Lion, and Walmart with in three miles.
